Music

Music is always a key element of worship in any church and Hughenden is no exception; we sing ‘The Word’ when words alone are not enough.

We are blessed to have many musical talents with quite differing tastes and styles which harmonise perfectly with the different styles of our Sunday worship services.

Our Traditional Choir sing anthems and lead the singing of hymns mainly from ‘The New English Hymnal’, accompanied by the organ. This choir sings at the 9.00 am service and at Evensong, and also at weddings when requested. Choir practice takes place every Wednesday evening and new members are very welcome – no audition required. If you are interested in joining them please contact Neil Brice.

Our Worship Band comprises singers and musicians and plays a key part in the 11.00 am service accompanying and leading with some wonderful contemporary worship songs. They actively seek new music from around the world to inspire and enrich our worship.

We are blessed with many musical talents and a regular band leads worship at the 11.00 am service, but we are very keen to develop this aspect of our musical worship, so if you have a musical gift and would like to contribute please contact the Vicar.
